Large Scale Central

2016 Official Spring photos !

Vinny,

Did you get to use your Rail Kleen car? Half my fleet of locos are now battery-R/C (6). When I want to run track powered locos (about once a month now) my Rail Kleen gondola does an excellent job. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)Best of luck with the new C-19. It looks great. I’m jealous! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)The layout looks terrific.

I cleaned the rails for the first run of the season with water and the green pad, then before today’s run I used the rail Kleen. It will do a good job for quick runs during the week but I still prefer cleaning with the red or green pad to really get all the gunk off.

Nice pictures Vinny. The Phlox looks great in bloom. Still waiting for mine to bloom.

my beautiful spring afternoon

The Pittsburgh and Castle Shannon Railroad’s first excursion train will be leaving the station on May first as planned. As its been planned every year the P&CS has been in operation. Today the track crews finished rehabbing the railroad after its winter slumber, and, as is the custom, we dusted off the Reading passenger train for the first (test) run of the year.

And Here the train is passing the future site of Jessie’s new Big Schmitt oil well.

And as the train drifts downhill, between the trees, the track and engine crews are satisfied that the railroad is back in shape, and ready to handle another season’s worth of traffic.

Here’s a few still shots from last time I ran a train.

The dirtiest coal car I have

Headed past the SRB Feed & Seed

Few pictures from the last week or so.

New Hartland Birney Street Car. I plan on making this battery powered R/C. Something I have been wanting and the Birney is not too far off from the prototype.

Up hear in Massachusetts we are finally seeing some color!

Flox is nice, and we see some red coming from a couple of Japanese maples! I still love hinoki cypresses!

Hear are some more phlox, maples ,some evergreens and in the center is a acid green hosta! Reverse I think (small )

Temps are warming up nicely…

Its a nice time of year, Nice color Sean.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

I have been getting the new acquisitions of the P&CS up and running. First up, a Delton Tiffany car,

And next up, a short Bachmann Union Line car

I like that one better then the full sized, brown one, that I have been running.

Really lots of nice photos… Thank’s for sharing them.

Took a break from building and did some running.

Ken

You’re pics are getting harder to tell if there real or 1:20! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Great pictures Ken.

I just now had a chance to take a look at this thread. I’m blown away. I’ve gotten little look-sees every now and then into the different layouts at different times, but seeing them all together is a whole new experience and makes me realize just what a talented group of guys we have here. Really something else.

It reminds me of my latest visit to Kevin’s place with my son, and my son says to me, “Dad, your railroad has a long way to go before it’s as good as this!” I tell my children I always want them to be honest with me…the price is sometimes I get more than I expected!! Kevin couldn’t help laughing!

I have quite a few questions I want to ask, but they will have to wait because I’ve got busy work work days ahead of me today and tomorrow.

Everyone’s road is greening up nicely. Mine too! We had some nice weather today and after running a test train over some new track I took these shots as M-10 pulled the train home past Wall Station…

Totally agree. And I really like the track and trackbed. I need to copy that on my two outdoor loops if I can.

Thanks John & Joe! John; my website is terribly in need of an update, but the tutorial on how I paint my track is there: www,cvsry.com The roadbed is simply stone from the local quarry. I’ve been meaning to post a stone tutorial with pictures and descriptions of the various stone products available in my area. I’ve been a bit busy though!
