Some information for our American friends who are travelling to Ottawa next week for the American Invasion of Ottawa from Thursday July 14th to Monday July 18th.

The bank currency exchange for $1 American is presently $1.24 Canadian.

That should take some of the sting out of our 13% sales tax (not applicable on food, hidden in the price of liquor and beer).

Gasoline is between $1 to $1.05 Canadian per litre.

That is the equivalent of $2.88 to $3.03 American for an American gallon (3.7854 litres) of gasoline.

The gas price in Ogdensburg, NY is $2.26 American per American gallon.

The gas price in Watertown, NY is $2.32 to $2.39 American per American gallon.

We are in Michigan for Ops on the Michigan Central railroad. A 7.5 inch ride on layout. Plan to head east and north next week. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

I held off talking about the weather because lasts week’s forecast did not look promising for “the Invasion”.

However things now look more promising.

I think all the rain fell this morning.

Here are the few brave souls testing the new canopy on the crews lounge.

Steve on the bottom right is not happy. After the changing couplers and re-wiring his Annie, the heavy rain stopped him from running it.
