The NNGC 2013 convention is going to be here is Pasadena, does anyone know when in advance they start accepting inquiries about layouts, displays or tour stops?
Just curious…

At my age, I don’t plan that far in advance
Vic,
What I’ve observed (I’ll qualify that as loosely), is the next convention is established by the time of the current year’s convention, but hits high gear as soon as this year’s event is complete. I would think that you will see a booth for the 2012 convention at this year’s convention in Hickory and that in itself takes quite a bit of effort, but after that 2012 goes into high gear and 2013 is getting well established. Now if an area has had the convention before they are already calling on their past experience, locations and people.
Hopefully, someone will chime in for you with more direct info for you.
Doesn’t help you much, but the 2012 is in the Seattle area.
One I might finally get to attend.
I kinda figure from the replies that once the 2012 show get closer then they will get more serious, I just was wondering as the 2011 show hasnt happened but there are already layouts lined up for the 2012 show. It would help to know if there were any local groups helping to organize the 2013 shows but I’m so out of the loop I wouldnt know.

Ric, I don’t think the NNGC has ever been here before. In fact I found myself asking what exactly are they going to highlight out here? Dizzyland, Knotts, and the Orange Empire Trolley Museum are the only narrow gauge sites I can think of, that’s not alot to fill out 4days. My interest is purely selfish - I want to try and get my tiny layout into the show on the floor. I don’t think its enough to warrant a bus stop on the tour. I might try a trail run this year at the next SWGRS if I can afford a space and can find adequate transportation. I’m tired of all my work only being seen by my dog.
Victor,
Around here, it would be strange for you to be charged for space to show your model/display/layout. If you are not selling something, you can usually get free admission, at least, for bringing your stuff. Sometimes there is enough money to cover your expenses or part of it.
The Sn3 Symposium was there.
I would contact Jeff at Railmaster Hobbies and the Slim Gauge Guild.

TCC:}
Sn42 and Hn42
TC,
Hn42 threw me for a second, had to dig a little: (H)alf-inch = 1 foot (1:24 scale) running on Gauge 1 (45mm) track,
which is what HLW makes.
Sn42 = 1:64 scale running on HO gauge track. (Anything available besides conversion kits?..)
