2013 Challenge on D&D -- a caboose

Today I made a lot of progress. Now I just need to figure out how to attach the pictures I just uploaded!

I got one to upload. Let’s see if I can get the other one!

The ends are installed and the car’s rafters are done. Hopefully on Friday I can cut the openings for the caboose windows and sliding doors.

How do I get square corners on those inside cuts?

Carefully?

It’s in the 30s and the heater in the shop isn’t keeping up!

At least your in the positive 30’s, negative 30’s for us!!!

(wind-chill, -12 actual or -24 for my celcius minded friends)

Another day of nice weather. Maybe I will get this done!

Sides are attached and two windows installed!

Supposed to be good weather all weekend, got till Monday Doug

When the crew was visiting the local “watering hole” I snapped a picture of the boxcar-caboose. We had high clouds today. I hope ot doesn’t rain before the roof is done.

Doug,

Is there supposed to be a picture?

It was supposed to be. That was how it worked yesterday!

Let’s try it again. I have to add this and then edit the message to get it!

All it’s doing right now is opening and saying the picture is 750 picas wide. No location.

I’ll try again later.

I think the picture will “magically” appear!

It looks a lot better than the last picture but it’s not done yet!

Sorry you couldn’t get her done in time, Doug… but keep at it, I love the design you’ve chosen! I know what it’s like to run out of time - I came d----d close myself last night, barely scraped in under the wire to get a couple of hasty outside pix just as daylight was fading here.

Anyways, AFAIC we’re all winners, aren’t we, just for trying the challenge! Do finish this caboose and keep practising how to upload and post yr pix. It’s a learning curve and like you we’re all crawling up it, believe me, just that little bit slower than we’d like!

I just got into the new habit of hitting only one Return at paragraph’s end when I post, unless/until Bob fixes it. You might want to try it as well.

And I still love that hat of yours. Cheers!

I’ve actually done pretty well. I may only er a couplr days late which is better than the last time.

Next Challenge I may not be gone for a week in January so I’ll have “lots” pf time!

After this is done I have several ore cars to build.

A switcher climbs the hill to Summit with the Challenge boxcar-caboose on its test run tiday,

It was a nice day to run but snow is supposed to be on the wat,

Next project is building the rest of the mine train that wukk be pulled by the Sgay.

Finally goterdone! Looks good Doug, I would say hope the weather gives you a break so you can get the other cars started, but we got another cold storm coming in this week, can’t catch a break!

I’ve got my fingers crossed – and I split firewood this morning and am sharpening chainsaws!
