Large Scale Central

2013 challenge. Aaaand the winner is!

Me! Because all you guys really stepped up your games this year!!!Thank You!!!

Anyways, I tallied all the votes.

John Le Forestier led the Model voting by a landslide, followed distantly by Tom Grabenstein

John and Tom Grabenstein were dead tied in the Log voting.

Soooooooo…

This year’s “Best of Show” obviously goes to John Le Forestier:

This years’ “Build Log” prize is awarded to Tom Grabenstein:

Which leaves us with the “Model” prize yet to award. I’d really like to award it to a 3rd person just to help keep interest up for next year. Unfortunately, if I just pick the #3 voted model it would feel more like a “consolation prize”.

So I’m gonna leave it up to youse guys. Do we give John 2 prizes, or hold a run-off for the 3rd prize?

Lets spread it around, How about the best finnish by a 1st timer…

Congrats guys. Everyone did a great job and it was fun watching along.

Congratulations!! John and Tom…

Travis

Thanks guys for the “Build Log” prize!!!

I really thought I would “goof off” this winter and have no project to work on. Dave’s very gracious offer of the gondola kit got me off my duff and in to the shed (with the kerosene heater going) to get to work.

Thank you to all for the inspiration this challenge provided. This continues to be the best Large Scale Model RR site on the web.

Doc Tom

Dave,

I thought of that. Except, John and Tom were BOTH “1st Timers”…

OTOH, I also still think YOU deserve a prize for everything you did to help pull this thing off. If I’d have had to do the heavy lifting this year it might not have come off at all.

Thanks, but no thanks… Ennie meenie ninny moe someone for the sho…

Congratulations!! John and Tom!

OK, A runoff for “Miss Congeniality?” it is…

John, Tom, contact Dave for your prizes.

Everybody else, look for the new voting thread…

Congratulations John and Tom!!! It was great following along with all the builds. This was a first for me, and I had a great time, I learned a lot! Thank you Mik and Dave for making it possible! I look forward to future challenges!

Congrats guys! Some really great projects this year

For me what was supposed to be a quick little fun project mushroomed into a not so small scale building program, since the Challenge project was completed I have added 2 scratched cars, a Boxcab, a sailcar, and am working on two other engines ideas, all because Mik and Dave cooked up this event, so…

Thanks Mik and Dave

Congratulations John and Doc.

You deserve to win.

Gosh! You’re too much! I’m honored and humbled.

I admire all the other models in this challenge; each one is amazing in its own way. There are no losers here, that’s for sure.

I learn something new from every model I build, and this year from the most experienced modelbuilder to the newest in this challenge, I learned a big or a little something from every one. Thanks so much, guys.

I owe you.

Congratulations John and Tom. And also to the rest who entered the challenge, as there were a lot of one of a kind well done entries.

Congrats to both of you! Everyone put out some nice models.

Terry

The winner of the run-off is…

Todd Haskins!

HUGS and KISSES to all from Miss Congeniality 2013… tear…

This was a fun contest and I learned some new things from the other builds and really stretched my skills with my own effort. I’m so glad you guys liked it enough to vote for it.

A big thanks goes out to Dave and Mik and anyone else that was involved in getting this contest rolling.

Thanks so much! Big KISS !!
