I took the test, found out that I’m a “Doc.” That’s why we get along so well.
I wish I had been able to keep my photos from when I was a Building Inspector working with city, I saw some stuff that would make your brain explode, none of the pics posted here surprise me one bit.

This one is particularly unnerving for me, one of my inspections, which were to root out slumlord apartment owners, was a building where the original main electrical panels had been bypassed to new meters, but they only used wire nuts and jumpers and the inside of the original main panel looked like this, wirenuts everywhere, I was shaking my head when I opened the door panel, but when I closed the door, there was a big flash from an electrical arc, when I opened it a loose wirenut had fallen off and when I closed the panel it grounded causing a sizable arc! The ONLY thing that saved my ass was that I when I closed the door panel I only holding the small knob on the panel which was insulated with rubber from the door itself! Some other time I’ll tell you about the dryrotted deck I fell through!!!
Yes Vic and none of those are Photshopped! I’ve seen a few of those “professional modifications”, too. Scary stuff!

Several years ago the HO model railroad club I was a member of moved to a new location in a shopping center. In the process of getting the space ready to start moving our stuff, some temporary walls had to be removed and a couple of lights had to be repositioned. Looking at the this space was used many times by retail stores, the lighting was changed to fit the store, but never really done right, the electricians just came in and found a circuit that would do the job and added more wire. Well I started de-bugging some of the wiring and found that some of the circuits would actually have 4 complete runs in the conduit making a spiral circuit. You could not add another wire in the boxes if you wanted and look just like the picture above. Now comes the bad part, I started removing some of the excess wires, as the conduits where warm to the touch, the city informed me I could not do that as I was not a licensed electrician and had to leave it alone. It was the licensed electricians that created the problem. I am a Electronic Tech. schooled in Long Range Radar installation and repair in the Air Force and could not touch the wiring. What made it even scary was the interiors of all the store had to made from aged lumber which really made a fire hazard, no the wood was not treated with fire retardant.
But you’re not allowed to know what your doing. Union rules, you know.
