2.4 gig radio frustrations

I have a hobby King radio, the hk-t4a. Came with a TR6A receiver

I can’t get them to bind. I have tried three different receivers, and have the same problem EVERY time.

Step 1. plug the “binding plug” into the battery channel on the receiver
Step 2. plug the battery output plug into one of the other channels–I’ve tried them all

At this point, you are supposed to see a flashing red led. You press the binding button on the radio, then turn the radio on, and when the led turns solid, and stops flashing, you are good to go.

But I get a SOLID red led. And when I turn on the raio, nothing happens. And when I pull the binding plug, and put the battery plug in the battery channel, I get nothing.

With three receivers. I cna’t figure out what I’m doing wrong. I tried it with 4 AA batteries, outputting six volts, and with two AAs, outputting 3 volts–same problem

I can’t for the life of me figure out what I’m doing wrong. Any ideas?

I can’t comment about the 4 channel rig but I can with the 6 channel version.

  1. Insert the binding plug in the RX.
  2. Connect the RX battery supply and turn it ON. The LED in the RX will blink.
  3. Press and HOLD the “BIND” button and then turn the TX ON. The RX LED will almost immediately stop blinking and go solid ON.
  4. Remove the binding plug and turn the TX and RX OFF.
  5. Switch TX and RX ON. The LED will go to solid ON.

Mike,
I have the 4 channel and have had no problems. 1. connect bind plug to bat. pins - is far right side of rcvr if looking at top 2. connect bat. to any channel. 3. hold down bind button on xmtr and turn on xmtr. 4. light on rcvr should go from flash to solid. 5. release button on xmtr and remove rcvr power then turn off xmtr. That should work. However don’t hold xmtr antenna to close to rcvr. 2 feet is ok. Xmtr seems to cuase interference if to close to rcvr. Mine work great and I have 6 of them mounteed in locos and planes now. Its great to double head or even triple with all on 2.4GHZ. different xmtr for each of course.

I know that’s what’s supposed to happen, but the red LED never blinks–it goes on solid, then does not come back on after the battery plug is removed and reinserted.

I wonder if there is some local 2.4 gig interference? Seems unlikely, but I can’t understand why three receivers do the same thing. Also–if I try again right away, I don’t get the solid red LED. I get nothing. If I come back a couple hours later and try the whole procedure again, I get the solid red LEd that never blinks

Might be a stupid question, but are you sure you have the battery polarity correct?

What happens with Battery connected and no Bind plug ?

Are you using the same binding plug all the time? If so maybe the plug is no good and not a complete circuit. There should be no interference strong enough to prevent binding unless you have another radio on at the same time close by. Re check polarity of battery pack too. Some like Airtronics are different than Futaba and Hitec

Mike - Did you resolve this ??? If so, what was the issue?
