2-4-2 Rogers engine

Trying to remember if this engine ever had a coal box on the back end, vaguely remember seeing one but there parts break down doesn’t show one, they later brought out a sloped back tender to add to the engine but it was a saddle tanker and that really doesn’t make much sense, think it was really designed for use with their 0-4-0 switcher and it came with a small coal box at the end. So if anybody’s memory is better or has pictures I would be interested as I’m planning on kit bashing one and come up with a prairie version something like belowblack hills engine

Bill, no they never had a coal bunker, they were always meant to be paired with Aristo’s slopeback tender. I found that the bunker from a brass wheeled Lionel 0-6-0 fit nicely and thanks to the recessed base didn’t interfere with coupler operation.

The Pajaro Valley RR prototype was built for commuter train service and had a fully enclosed box cab with rear windows for rearward operation and a short roof overhang, presumably it carried an small coal bunker inside the cab.

There were two early version made by REA of this short roof version with a red cab and an orange cab.

Think I have seen one that the backend was closed in must have been one with the short roof, mind is getting too filled up and has been purging, Thanks, Bill

found this on pinterest so there must have be more colors other red and yellow

blue rogers

Sure looks like a red wire soldered to the track …

A nice model.

yes it does doesn’t it, never looked at it that close, good eye

The plastic frog and LGB rail joiners, rail gap with no joiner and plastic molded “spikes” are tips also (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

I didn’t want to rub it in, like the Phillip screws on the axles(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

just blind in 1 eye and deaf in the other

We are just having fun with you Bill!

That is a nice scene, nonetheless…

Greg

That’s fine I’m enjoying the conversation
