1800's passenger car seats

I’m looking for seats in the 1800’s style to replace the horrable seats in my bachmann passenger cars. I have seen some in some photos that I guy posted here some time ago about building a Drover caboose out of a AMS passenger car.

So can anyone tell me where I can get these old style seats or seat ends.

Dan, to replace the seats then obviously you would need to make a new floor. I have considered the park bench type seating available from the typical Hong Kong/Chinese eBay dealers (typically around $0.50 each. The ends look like the throwover type cast ends, but are obviously fixed. This is the type of seat. You could cover the planking with thin styrene or material, or remove the ends and attach to the aisle side end of the stock Bachmann seats to enhance the existing seating.

Somebody makes cast seat ends, I saw an auction for a couple dozen of them on fleabay a while back. Wasn’t looking for them so I didn’t really pay more attention… sorry.

These guys make some 1:20 scale walkover seats: http://www.classicreflections.biz/Walkover%20seats.htm

You can get them at Accucraft, as well.
Scroll down about halfway.

I think Bronson-tate has them also.

Thanks for the input guys. I’ll keep looking to see what I can come up with and I had planned on redoing the floors in the car to add the new seats. I was thinking about either using scribed styrene or wood and then stain it before adding the seats.

For my interior I made for a Roberts Lines trolley shell I printed off seat/wall designs that I found on the internet. Sized them to fit. Laminated them for a shiny look and glued them in with double stick carpet tape.

Jerry,

Those are prints? Look great in the pictures.

Yeah, printed them off on 90lb paper and then laminated them at the library. They are stuck to the metal seats that were in it with double stick carpet tape. Same for the ‘wood’ walls.

Maybe ya’ll can tell me. Did someone in LSC build a diner car for a 1800’s era train? I know I saw it somewhere but cannot find it. He was talking about seats for the tables in the car and how he built it. If you can help, I would appreciate it. The Yazoo and Mississippi Valley Railroad ran 4-6-0 locomotives and Sierra passenger cars. Not sure if the had a diner car like the western passenger trains did. But anyway, it would be fun to build one.

Ron,

The diner build is on MLS, I think he redid an accucraft car.

Chuck

Thanks Chuck, I read so much on both both websites I do not remember where I read all of it.
Ron

Ron,

If you haven’t checked it yet, go back to page 8 of the rollingstock thread here on LCS and look at Ron Spencer’s thread on building passinger cars. Lot’s of good info here.

Chuck

Ron, I did that with a Bachmann Jackson and Sharpe combine and passenger car. The thread is on MLS. I cut the two cars apart, glued them together and made tables and seats. There are pictures on MLS.

I just uploaded three pix of the diner. I’ve taken no pix since I completed it, but now it’s lettered and wired for lights with the rest of my D and PF passenger fleet.
