Large Scale Central

16 tons

Found this early this morning. Watch it for the vintage pix. Watch it for the Tennessee Ernie Ford’s silky voice.

Beyond that, I’m not even gonna comment.

Mik, I really am sorry about your situation. Life is not always fair, but since this is a TRAIN forum why don’t you try here.

I said to watch it for the pics… lots of realistic things to model in them.

I’m fine. Thank you for your concern, though.

I saw a lot of interesting train stuff too. Thanks Allen.

It is a good video. I enjoyed the old pictures.

Had you not inserted this comment inferring other points, there probably wouldn’t have been an objection made.
Let’s give Bob a break from all the pissin, moanin and bitchin. It’s not even an election year.

I try to leave most of my bitchin for Facebook.
Mik, feel free to chime in on FB anytime. Ken rips into me there all the time.
And Ken and I are still friends, at least as far as I know

There are days and then there are days!

I don’t watch youtube that much and not only enjoyed 16 tons and seeing what could be used on the layout but I ventured from there and enjoyed a number of other tunes I hadn’t heard in a great while. But none had anything I could use on the RR!

Thanks Mik for the link , it brought back memories , I always look at the photos in case I may see family there , because my Great-grandfather , grandfather , 3 uncles , and my brother were underground miners .
Then I worked 41 years in power plants burning coal , ah yes , coal , and family ties .

I didn't comment. And I'm not going to. If somebody's conscience bothers them. It still wasn't me that wrote the song OR put together the collage. I simply acknowledged the fact that it DID quite probably dovetail with the other discussion.

However, back to mines and miners. I DO still have 2 pages of mine related pix up that I collected researching for my mine buildings.

Now, realize that I purposely left out the mine disaster pix and the strike pix( but I probably can find enough of those to make another 2 pages.) Wrecked buildings, terrified wives, and lots of coffins are kind of depressing. Shouting folks carrying signs and armed guards or riot police aren’t much fun either. … And they’re not too much use for building most models – unless you wish to get some folks riled up with the result. Most model railroaders prefer their “past” to be completely neat and tidy and happy… Sort of like selective compression for history.

Anyway, it has finally stopped raining for a whole 15 minutes, so I’m going outside to see what has washed away.
