12th Annual Spokane Garden Expo

On Saturday, May 14th our club participated in the 12th Annual Spokane Garden Expo. The Inland Northwest Garden Railroad Society has been the main attraction for the last 6 years. We set-up a display and run trains the entire day. This Garden Expo is the largest one day garden show in the Pacific Northwest with the average attendance well over 6 thousand people.

The overview shows the entire railroad. We had 2 loops connected by 2 sets of crossover switches so we could go back and forth. We ran 6 trains all day long on battery power with “Revo” controls and only had a few accidents, but nothing got broke.

The Expo sponsors bought all these benches for the public to sit and watch the trains run. It was great to see the smiles on all the kids and adults. We really look forward to doing this show every year.

This is some of the gang. A great time was have by all.

Looks like you had a great time. Me and Broos will be doing something like it on a much smaller scale at the Barnwell Village saunter on June 1st. We have a garden space about 95 x 40 feet wit hfour grass beds in in - I guess we’ll go around one of them with our little track, running live-steam and electric as well as a smaller loop for the battery-powered 7/8th stuff I’m building.

I might even send out some pics if anybody is interested, but it won’t be too impressive, I’d venture to say. The surroundings, the village alms houses, were built in 1601, BTW - THEY are pretty.
