109 degrees!

After having the coolest summer since 1933, the heat suddenly caught up with us the past few days, and today was the worst! ONE HUNDRED NINE degrees here (we’re next to Miramar MCAS). It was triple digits all the way to the coast. Out in the desert, in Borrego Springs, it was actually one degree cooler – 108.

It’s now after 11:00 at night and still in the mid 80’s in the house. Humidity was low during the day but rising now, so it feels hotter than it is. There’s a chance of thunderstorms the next two days.

Wow.
Can’t imagine those kind of temps.
We’ve had about 10 inches of rain since Saturday. Yesterday was no fun at work. Got the work truck stuck at a job site I’ve never even had to use 4WD at before. The ground is just saturated.
Ralph

Ray,

a friend of mine lives in Highlands, and his wife contracts on the fires-she’s only worked one all season. Bill’s been telling me all Summer how cools it’s been this year vs. how hot we’ve had it over here. I think he was anticipating a warm-up with the Santa-Anna (sp) winds, but not so abrupt a change!

Like Ralph, we received a great deal of rain just to his South, it’s been a long time coming

Hope things get back to cool soon!

Quite yer whinning, it was 113 :open_mouth: in downtown LA yesterday, I went out about noon and thought I was going to melt. It was actually cooler up in Pasadena at 106, I knew it was going to be bad when it was already 80 at 5:30 AM.

I hate the heat

I can relate to “I Hate the Heat” thats why I moved out of the Riverside area to beautiful Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. We get 4 seasons and not alot of 90 plus days in the summer. Average summer temperature is around 82 with a slite breeze and lots of nice mountains and lakes to enjoy.

Shut up, Chuck!
We don’t need any more Californians up here!

Oh, OK John, I got lost in the monent. Never mind guys.

Chuck,

It sounds so lovely I had almost 'phoned the airline. lol

But I know what you mean, four seasons, rare snow, temperatures rarely below 34F or above 80F and a pleasant sea breeze. Mind you we often get more than a breeze that comes across the Atlantic but it does blow the cobwebs away.

Let me think about this for a moment…109 degrees a few days a year or -10 degrees and snow up to your knees for a few months at a time. H-h-m-m-m-m-m?

Well the one fact is, if it is cold, you can build a fire, but if it is hot, you can’t build an ice cube.

Rare Snow? Not!

Last year we got 4 feet dumped on us in an afternoon! The Californians who bought the farm across the road from us, just uphill from the sign that reads “End of the World - 2 Miles” lasted less than a month before they signed the deed to their land over to us and took the first dog sled headed south. If any Californian is thinking about moving to the Pacific North West, don’t! You’ve been warned. There be dragons here.

112 in Anaheim Hills yesterday. I think the AC was on all day

Everyone should have come to the desert to cool off. It was only 96 here!

Wimps! Musta been from Malibu…thats what snowmobiles were invented for

It was so cold that when I spilled some water, it froze on the way down and shattered on impact! This place is not for the faint of heart, I’m telling you!

Sounds like an indoor railroad is the way to go "up" there, or do you have heated track?
