Google today unveiled the scanning of over 10 million images from LIFE magazine’s long run, pictures and engravings going back to the 1750’s.
Only about 20% is online right now, with the rest promised in months. Apparently this not just images that they’ve run, but all images that they’ve got, so most are previously unpublished.
For parts of the whole collection from 1860’s to the 1970’s

I heard about the scanning of the pictures. This should prove some very interesting grazing over the next couple of years. I actually think it is only the start.
The New Hope station is cool. If they have scanned 20% so far, I would think they have less than 20% of the railroad images scanned. Personally, I have more than 5 times the number of photos they are showing so far. Of course, mine don’t span the time or geography their photos do.
This will be very interesting as they get more photos up.

I would love to model one, but I can’t even keep a regular roof straight!

Where do you get you news? This has been around for weeks. Remember the VW Bug pictures I posted over in the Off Topic car thread? They were from the Google Life Archive.

Since Life covered just about everything during their run, you should just know that trains were included without being told
