I got an email about the New Ray 1/32nd Geeps. I found them on Amazon and on ebay. I ordered one to use in my yard. THey are un-powered, I thought it would look fine sitting there with a couple of old cars that I don’t care about getting rained on or hit with our hard water from the sprinkler system. They look as though they may have used the old K-Line molds, seem to look a lot like the K-Line Army Geeps I have for my army train. Got two more flatcars for it from Jim Carter.

The New Ray stuff is actually pretty nice/workable and priced nicely from what I have seen of it. My Brandt Rail truck was a New Ray model…
Here’s a picture of it in primer that I was sent:

I got mine today, it is the same as the K-line army locomotives I have. They were made back in the 80’s, I think. Had the same gear problems as USA. These are un-powered and have plastic spoked wheels! Molded in horn on top, otherwise identical to the K-lines. Even has the grooves in the cab for the windows to slide in, have to make your own though! Funky sound/light system in it that comes with batteries. So, they got the molds some way or the other.
Here’s a shot of mine so far. I painted the gray areas and the trucks. Slide glass in the windows. I need to wire in the lights and by then Stan’s decals should be here.

Nice…I might have too scoop one (or two) of them up
These would make great static display engines for yard seens…
You are right Nick, that is what mine is for. I got it all finished up. Wired in LED’s on the number boards and the cab and put lights in the back also. Small LED in the cab. It is hooked into my Malibu system on the RR so will light up at night. http://1stclass.mylargescale.com/jerrybarnes/Geep%20Build/GeepOut1.JPGI put some extra weights in the trucks and fuel tank, gets pretty windy on the west side. Slide glass for the windows, Krylon gray primer, did brush some white on the hand rails. Stan did the number board decals and the UP herald, usual good job that he always does.

I got the flats from Jim Carter, they will stay out with it, I thought it would be nice to have a train on static display all the time and not worry about electronics, etc/. Our hard water should finish up the weathering just fine, I’ll have to rotate it to keep the water deposits even. It was a fun project, probably did more than I should have. I did paint the inside also, the plastic is pretty translucent and I didn’t want to paint the UP yellow area.
Looks good there Jerry. Makes a nice display piece
Looks good Jerry.
Jery be interesting to see how long it lasts out there before UV starts getting to it.
I shot it with some UV clear spray, some fading would not be bad anyway!
