Large Scale Central

1/24 scale standard gauge NYC Hudson

Hi Guys:

Here is a photo of a 1/24 scale standard gauge NYC 5200 Hudson:

http://erectorset.net/index.html

The model is from the 1930’s.

Track gauge is 1/24 of 4 feet 8 1/2 inches.

Alas, the largescale mfgs. chose to not pursue 1/24 scale.

The photo shows what could have been in terms of a common 1/24 scale for both standard gauge and narrow gauge.

Talk about the 1/29 WOW factor ( to which I agree ) , How about the 1/24 scale WOW factor?

Nice looking engine!

Well, Norm. Now I know what you look like.

And they looked even better in person.

WOW is right! Holy smokes, I’d love to have one of those.

First thing I’d do is turn it over to Kevin for a tune-up and convert it to onboard power. Then I’d get it back and do some painting, renumbering, and relettering.

My own personal aesthetics are that 1:24 is the perfect scale and I wish there were more locomotives and rolling stock produced with quality in 1:24. But that’s just me.

John, add to that the ENORMOUS range of building, structures, vehicles, accessories and so on, not to mention figures, in 1/2" scale, that are ALL correct in every respect.

I hafta agree with you.
