1:24 RC excavator

Just ran across this. Too late a vintage for my V&T RR, but it looks cool! Cyber Monday sale has it for $69…

Smoke & sound… seems too good to be true. Is this a scam? If not…

Naah, looks too scammy. Quora says it’s doubtful. Dont buy it!

But it would’ve been cool…

OK, back to my corner…

Old hat …you need to do Cabin Fever (close enough) but leave your wallet at home.

My scale eyes might be a bit off, but the unit in the pictures & videos looks a lot larger than 1:24, maybe even bigger that 1:12. A good bet Cliff is right and it’s a scam.

You’re not going to get the excavator in the videos for 70 bucks. Those units start around $3K, and go up from there. There’s a serious RC heavy equipment and haulage hobby out there.

That one in the video costs more than my first car!

Besides, if I want to do construction like the “REAL” guys, I’ll get out my teaspoon to move dirt and a shovel to lean on when I’m not working…which apparently will be most of the time. And I’ll still finish “ahead” of “schedule”.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Sounds like a perfect example of the Toy Mans vid about internet hobby fraud

“That one in the video costs more than my first car!”

The same is true for #1 gauge live steam. My Roundhouse 2-6-2t WWI trench locomotive cost as much as my brand new Chevy Nova did in 1969! Don’t think you can get a 48 month auto loan on a live steamer, either.

Have fun, David Meashey

Get a rokenbok set and kit bash the motorized unit. These are 1/24.

Pete and others. The links go to Amazons page of scale R/C excavators available in scales from 1/14, 1/16, 1/20, 1/24, and I saw one at !/26, but you have to scroll the page to see them. The link was posted simply to show the pricing runs all over the place within the individual scale sizes. Maybe a closer look is needed.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

David Marconi;

Please forgive me if I am the “umpty umpth” person to ask this, but just what does the title FOGCH stand for? If it cannot be iterated on a family-oriented site, just say so, and I will be forever curious (but not ask again).

Ken has the right of it Dave, Fat Old Guy Can’t Hear. Besides it gives pause and a bit of levity to the standard bore.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

David & Ken;

Thank you. At almost 75 (in 6 days), I fit the first three letters. Still have pretty good hearing. Funny story: Was taking my draft physical and in the hearing test isolation booth with the headphones on. Was still somewhat distracted by the chatter outside the isolation booth. Brought my test sheet out & told the folks, “Sorry, I may not have done too well because I kept hearing you talk outside the booth.” They looked at me like I had two or three heads. My hearing results were perfect! Still got flunked for blood pressure anomalies.

Best Wishes, David Meashey

P.S. My photo is 12 years old, but I don’t know how to change it.

Yeah, I always thought it was Fraternal Order of Groundhogs, Creature Handler (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

“Yeah, I always thought it was Fraternal Order of Groundhogs, Creature Handler”

Yeah Bruce;

Since groundhogs are also called woodchucks, that brings up the old question: “How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?” The answer, of course, IS: “That depends on the size of the headstock and the length of the bed on his wood lathe.”

Weaving & Ducking, David Meashey

The reason I know what it means is because I asked him, since I was curious myself.
