For those that may be looking for some weights to add to cars or locos, I found some at Harbor freight for about $7. There are 48 individual 1/2 oz weights in the package. I picked up a couple of packs as they always come in handy. Later RJD
I looked at them, are they lead or zinc?

For weight does it mattes?
I like the tire weight strips with the sticky peal adhesive.
Yes, if you are using a lot, there’s quite a difference in volume.
For example, if you want to take an aristo loco to “prototype” weight, the zinc or steel weights will use up a lot more space, often making an issue if you want to put a sound decoder in the boiler of a steamer, or keeping all the weight to the fuel tank in a diesel.
Yep, a lot of difference.

Look for “Q metal”?
They say lead free. Yep and it says they have an adhesive backing and are of the Automotive type. Later RJD
I will have to look the next time I get by a HF. Years ago I picked up a bag of buck shot to use for weighting down stuff. So far, all I have weighted down with it is the pony truck on my Heartland 4-4-0.
I went to the tire shop where I got some new tires, to get some tire weights for my trains. I had a choice of lead or some metal. Took lead, they have the peel and stick backs, so that is handy. Oh yeah, they were free.
Yep it figures Jerry. Later RJD
