Plants for the Bluestone Southern

The other day, Jane went shopping at Lowe’s and Home Depot for lunch… She found plants on sale for about 3 bucks each, so she bought a couple…

There are 50 of them, in those pictures… Dwarf Alberta Spruces, boxwoods, and some Spyireai

Why can I never find these deals? Last I looked at Lowes the 1 Gallon Dwarf Alberta’s were $20. I need som trees for the new area.

I’ll sell you Andys for 5 dollars each.

I better get a cut, Geoff… and it better be more than we paid…

Happy planting!
Its spelled “spirea”
One of my wholesale place just had 3 gallon dwarf english boxwood for $9/each. HD and Lowes normally charge $7 for a 1 gallon size. I just gotta find time to prune them up and plant them!

OK it’s the weekend are they planted ?

It’s not the weekend yet, David. Ask again on Sunday.

We placed them the other night… She went back last night, and got about 30 more… Blue Star junipers and some more boxwoods… She got a lotta planting to do this weekend…

Pictures on Sunday!!!

Geeeeeeeeeeeeeez you guys are lucky here at Menards they are $39.00 each and Wally Weird had some but they were almost 3ft tall for $7-8.00 there, i like you never can find the deals on dwarfs or other and really want some for my railroad too. Keep watchin and lookin The Regal

Jerry, some Lowe’s and Home Depots have the sales, and others in the area do not… It’s like each store manager makes the desicion when to have them on sale… It’s a hit or miss thing, you have to catch the right store here, at the right time… last year, we struck out, but had some club members across the river looking for us, and they found some dwarf alberta spruces for us, rangin from 1.87, to 2.79 each… These are 3.33 each, then take off 10% for the military discount… I can deal with that cost…

DavidR??? Btw, I’ll let the wife know, you were pushing her to get the plants in, so you could see some pictures…

hehehe

Really coming along Andy. You’ve got me a little confused on the Sparta cut though.I thought you said it was that wide as that’s where you take the tractor through. That was only till you laid track and planted?

Lot of work for one day. Track, plants, and 4 buckets of top soil. I got two boxes of track out today and placed two pieces. Does that count as work?

Dave

Looking good.

Absolutely NOT!

DavidM… I could take the tractor thru it, before I put up the large block wall…

I took the tractor thru and moved the dirt, so I could get the base of the large block wall in… You can see the tracot tracks and the track just to the right them… And, if I wanted to run over the track and trees, the tractor would still fit thru there… Between the walls is about 9 foot… In front of each wall, will be a ““dry”” creek, for water drainage during rain… Eventually, there will be 3 bridges crossing that cut, at 2 different heights, so, basically, walking in there won’t be done, except if there is a derailment for some unknown reason…

Andy,
When my boy and I return from spectating a minor league ballgame tomorrow evening and I log in, I fully expect to see all the plants in place and not in their containers! You did say you were going to plant them this weekend??
