Plow finally completed

About 5 years ago I started building a snow plow using an Aristo Plow wedge. I got my idea from a picture of a similar plow in Garden Railways (I think in 210 issue) and also Kens Plow. After realizing Ken was never going to send me his plow, I decided it was time to finish mine. I got to the point where It was usable but never finished it my standards (which is not much).

Not sure why it took so long but probably because it was not on my mind when not in use and other projects too priority. (out of site, out of mind) So anyway I finally I put the pink hat on and decided to finish it. I changed the color to a barn red color. I thought a red color would stand out more against the snow. The windows were finished, some details added, like a stack and I built a flanger for the bottom. I used some brass and soldered braces to the flanger so I can attach the flanger to the bottom.

I thought I had a build log from the fist time but I cant find it anymore.

Here is the before and now.

Now. I think I got the backwoods feel I was after. The ladders need to replaced with brass ones. Plastic ones on it are crap.

Flanger

Dang, boy, you do right nice work when you put your mind to it!

He needed an incentive, like he wasn’t getting mine…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Looks good. I like the red color and the flanger plate looks good peeking out. Now - One question: Does it plow snow?(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Just click on no thanks and the video is labeled my son doing the honors

Good job, Shawn! I like the new color.

Love it Shawn, the new colors give it a lot more definition. Even though the video link you shared proves it up to the job, I want to see some stem pushing it. Maybe two engines ??!!! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)

Very nice! I don’t know how you did it, but it looks like it has a fifty coats of paint on it - well used but clean!

Looks a lot like David Russell’s plow …nice work bro!

someone in this world has to keep us laughing!

Thanks guys.

Randy I had my Mogul and my sons powered boxcar pushing it the other day. Of course I didn’t get it on video. Two steamers would be tough guess I need to RC my two Shays to make it easier.

Jon I put the paint on thick and the cedar planks I used were beat up good.

Sounds like we need to get moved in and I need to finish my R/C’d ruby bash post haste. Then I could finally get over there for a visit and plow session. You really ought to try R/C in one of your loco’s it’s sooo much fun. I guess the down side is we might see less of those great videos of yours because you will be busy switching instead of recording the roundy round… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Haha that works Randy. I actually have my Forney hooked up to R/C but its very week when it comes to power. Maybe between that and your Ruby we could do it (Shut up Rooster). I think switching will stress me out too much. I rather watch my trains go roundy round, while I take video and pick at my Banjo. Plus I would have to add more switches.

Great remake Shawn. You do have an eye for the backwoods flavor(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
