Is LSOL the site that was run by the guy who lives in Post Falls, ID? I met him once and he seemed to be anti LSC.

Yeah, that’s the guy. You got him pegged.

Based on the descriptions by others I read, he was anti anything and everything that wasn’t LSOL.

Well When I met him I was just getting into LS for real. And I happened to drive by his house and saw a LS layout. So I stopped and chatted. This was before I was on here and before I joined the local club. Lets just say he didn’t talk nice about much of anyone. I realized that if I hung around him that I would be developing a relationship with my newest enemy. He just seemed like one of those people that at some point you would end up at odd with him.

LySOL, MeaLS, 1 twenty pointed head not me, this is what I have learned from LSC:

I do not build structures as well as Ray

I do not build rolling stock as well as Rooster

I do not build motive power as well as Hollywood

I do not lay track as well as Gary

but I do all of these things and on a recurring basis…which puts me ahead of Devon!!!

Bwahahhaha sorry buddy I have not zinged you in a while and I was getting out of practice! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

I now return this thread to it’s regularly scheduled drift.

Devon, Jon is a nice guy, but he can be a bit short fused. I still respect him for helping me edit and get my first article online. But there is a dichotomy there, he spouts religious talk, but he can be vindictive. He acts like he is laid back, and everyone’s friend, and then will unload his mental vomit about other people. I still like Jon, even though he shuttered LSOL and tossed all of us loyal paying members to the wind. But, if he had not done that, I would not have landed here, in a much better place, with more talented modelers. But you were wise in distancing yourself from him Devon.

Fred, I gave up on chat a long time ago. It seamed that every time I went in there, the group that was in there would leave. Or I would go into an empty chat room. I waste enough time online as it is, so I really don’t miss chat as much as I thought I would.

Come on back to chat David, and try it again, I’m trying it again, BUT I want to talk TRAINS… and learn or share stuff about TRAINS.

Yes …but you also like to stir up the pot. Especially when the Aristo horse has been beaten dead, skinned, deboned and thrown into the kettle many times. The vultures really have nothing left to pick at these days. I’m not really even an Aristo fan but respected the company for what they were.

It’s all good though!

Holy cow, boom out of nowhere.

My join date is 8/24/2000. Myself and many others joined many sites, so we would not be in the sudden darkness of the fiasco that happened that Summer. Things change and we have moved amongst the different sites as we developed skills, interest and friendships. Bob has become a close friend. Over the years he has tolerated a lot from all of us. Most of us have grown to really appreciate how hard this all is. When he started this project he had a lot more hair and Will was a lot younger. Good memories through all the years.

Ahh, the stirring of the LSOL pot. People still like beating that dead horse. All I will say is that if some of MLS’ers had picked on me they way they picked on a few LSOL members trying to enjoy a G scale show things would have ended differently than the way they did. I tend to be a nice easygoing guy but if you push my buttons I turn into a completely different person. I still with Jon and his family the best.

Rooster, stop picking on Maynard. That is my job.

Ric,

I never was a member of LSOL and the time I spent at LSC were pretty cold and empty save a few people. Found my way here and everything you describe is true. I probably am still doing LS instead of wandering down a different path in a large part because I have friends to share the hobby with. I have them in my local club but I also find them here. This is not your ordinary forum. It is a community.

Nobody has ever picked on you! For a big, hairy, knuckle dragging, foul smelling beast you sure are a crybaby! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

I never joined LSOL, figured that one out pretty quick. I have been more active at MLS than here, but after Shad had to let it go the new owner has just let it go down the crapper.

Chris

Devon,

The skills shared here are the best in the hobby, that I’ve seen. And that’s not just model railroading. There are people here willing to help.

I’m always amazed as to how much knowledge and talent, on a large variety of subjects, read the posts on this Forum.

THAT I dont want to see a picture of…

Looks like my join date was feb 2008. Going on 9 years in the hobby for me. I never joined the other site because I’m too cheap to pay for something, when you can get the info from so many other places. Ken knows all about how cheap I am. I still go on MLS only because of the live steam section. I wish most would switch to the live steam site here and make it more active. Then Rooster can try to find the pull strings and I can dump the other site completely.
