Its sad to see any locomotive die; steam or diesel. But they can’t all be preserved, not practical. But dang there are certain ones that just should be given a home. That DD is sad.
Devon, I agree that examples of each locomotive should be preserved somewhere. But since I don’t have an empty gargantuan warehouse, nor the money to get them things and put them there, I just have to watch history become lost. Just like the rest of us. It is sad.
I agree David. It is sad but really it takes a huge amount of money to save these beasts. And at the end of the day, practicality has to trump emotion. I mean if even if they wanted to donate that DD to someone who could take it, how would they get it there, ect, ect. We just have to accept that somethings must die.
or win a lottery and collect stuff like that, then become divorced and live in them
