Im skipping this year. One reason Ill have a very little one by then. Plus the cost having to take vacation days, food, room and gas. When all said and done I could have bought a live steam engine (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)

So what your saying is you would rather have a new steam engine then see Rooster???

Shawn,

It seems to me your plate is going to be kind of full. You’re a good Dad and Hubby. Hope you get your steam engine.

Nico Rooster can always come up to Scranton. I think they will let him cross over I80 into real Yankee territory.

This is all you’re own doing Shawn! But if you decide to come in and are looking for a place to spend the night on the cheap I know a guy that know’s a guy that is second cousin’s with a guy that used to date the sister of a guy that knows a guy up that way where you could probably crash at his house for free and is pretty close to York.

Edit: To remove the animated gif of banana’s screwing.

I’ll be there. My third time for York, and second time for the D&B, what a blast!

I promised myself that I’d have something new to drag to the D&B, so I’ve been working on something toward that end.

I just booked my room at the Wyndham. Before, I’ve stayed at a hotel further away, but this year I wanted to be nearer the action.

As of just now, they still have several more rooms available at the show rate (they just charged me $92; not the $90 mentioned on the ECLST site, but who cares). Includes b’fast.

BTW, entering the “ECL” code, as advised by the ECLSTS site (http://www.eclsts.com/hotel-info.html ) did not produce the discounted rates; said the code wasn’t recognized. After a few attempts, entering “ECL” and “ECLSTS” in the various boxes they conveniently provide, I called their reservation number: 1-717-846-9500. The gentleman there understood the ECLSTS reference, and gave me the ($50?!) discount over the phone.

Ok, this is almost a game time decision, but we are in, although only for Friday. We’ll be heading out Saturday morning to get our little guy back in time to find his Easter basket. I think it’s going to be lots of fun and our son will flip when he gets to see all those trains. See you all soon.

The url went to 404- page not found !

Let’s try this one; http://www.eclsts.com/hotel-info.html looks same but maybe those up close/touching parentheses affected the coding !?

If I come to York can I hang out with you guys?

Super excited. Can’t wait! I’m not an O-scale modeler but can appreciate O-scale so glad they decided to open the show up to O-scale vendors too! I think the popularity of O-scale will bring out a lot of O-scalers that dismiss G-scale as “toy-like”. When they get a look at brass models/live steam and/or some of the beautiful locos and rolling stock USAT, Aster, LGB, and Accucraft offers they’ll have a new-found appreciation for G-scale. I’m 27 years old and to be honest, most of the youth interest in model-railroading I’ve encountered is in the smaller scales. I think this is due to the perception that G-scale is “toy-ish” and cost-prohibitive. I am extremely detail conscious. I do a lot of research before a purchase to ensure it’s accuracy for the time period and geographical location I model (Pittsburgh, PA during the steam-diesel transition). I don’t know how to combat the issue of cost when discussing large-scale. I just shelled out $2200 for an Accucraft PRR k-4 live-steam loco and that basically cleaned-out my train-savings account for the next 2 years! lol

I wish the show was a Saturday/Sunday venue for those of us who work a M-F 9-5. I’ll drive the 4 hours early Saturday morning and get there for opening. Hope to meet some of the folks from this forum!

No, I don’t think he is house trained, but we wont be in a house, so does it matter?

Jay, the show used to be Friday, Saturday and Sunday. But, Sunday was kind of dead the last few years they did it. Several vendors were packed up and gone by lunch time on Sunday. So they dropped it.

Cool! Now I can talk about Rooster and he’ll never know!
