Large Scale Central

Shops and train rooms

In honor of Rick Marty’s new spotless shop, I offer you all a view of mine. It’s about 16 X 16. Post pics of your neat and tidy shop.

I see three of four shop essentials in those pictures…

A heater to keep the shop toasty in winter, a refrigerator to keep the beer cold, and a microwave to warm the pizza. But I don’t see the essential coffee maker. But that’s OK, I only have two of the four myself (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

You shop is much neater than mine. I cant see my table saw or workbench in the garage, and the train room bench isn’t much better - but I’m werkin’ on it!

Is this a little better John??

I know it is only a start but I am working diligently to achieve the correct ambiance. These things take inordinate amounts of time as you well know(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Nice shop you have there by the way.

Rick

I cant see mine neither. I need to go on another expedition to find my workbench.

Of course if I would quit Devoning, and just finish what is on the workbench, then it would be cleared off again.

Rick,

Much better! :-).

Jon,

I tell myself every time I go in there, “I have to clean this mess up!”. It will take me days just to sort and stack my wood sticks. I’ve got dozens of containers with cast off parts and screws to sort thru.

The big fridge holds my paints, glues, washes and such.

The little fridge for beverages is under my microwave. My coffee pot went TU and I haven’t replaced it yet. We use a K cup machine in the house, so I’ll prolly get a cheap K cup machine so I don’t have to walk back and forth.

after the shock of those pics above, something, where one can work…

Korm,

My grandfather used the jars with lids attached to the shelf to store svarious hardware also. I forgot all about that until I saw them in yours.

well, third world… we are fifty years behind.

but there is a learning curve about this system. only after one glas full of nails has hit the ground, one understands, why the lids should be fastened with two screws instead of one…

Yup Baby food jars!

I remember them!

Every time I’m looking for a particular small fastener, I have to open every frikken drawer in those parts box racks. I’ve gotten where I can open 4 at a time to look. My goal is to glue a sample on the front of each drawer for identification. And it wouldn’t hurt to group the drawers as to what is inside: castings, washers, nuts, etc.

As soon as I finish this latest project, I will (New Years Resolution) neaten, sort, and tidy up that dump.

This sounds like something Devon would say! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

OK Hey now. No need to be nasty. While I wouldn’t say my shop or garage are tidy I do know where most everything is. Right now they are in somewhat disarray becuase I am actively working on about 6 projects at once for Christmas. But the chaos is still organized.

But the getting to it someday comment does sound vaguely familiar. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

See … we’re getting to know you …

yes, group the drawers and buy such, where you can look inside, without opening.

Here’s my “playtable.”

You do realize, of course, that the Paraguay National Chess Championship Tournament 2016 started today?

edit: and just so you know, Neuris Delgado Ramirez is favored to win…although he was born in Cuba, he plays for the Paraguay Federation.

i didn’t know.

i’m not a good player, just a “robber”-player

OK, first try at new Freight Shed.

Here is the outdoor shed where I work on trains and lantern collection. Front boxes are the HO trains I am trying to get rid of.

The cellar work area.

Other side.

OK, found the difference between old and new. In the old FS you could copy the location from the filename. In the new one you have to actually open the picture before copying the location. It’s amazing what a good night’s sleep and a few cups of coffee can do.

I don’t see any of the 4 essentials in that shop picture, but that is a very cool pick-up bed trailer outside the window (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
