Large Scale Central

Bluestone Southern 2-3 May Operations

First day of Ops went well… Had 26 people in attendance, and ran 23 trains… Pictures to follow after we get rested…

A great time was had yesterday running trains! I managed to get trackside for some railfanning throughout the day.

doing a little repair work at the industrial park

a maintenance train outside Evansville

A set of FA units leaving the yard and heading towards Hilltop

some road switchers waiting for work in the yard

some trestle work being done

Then it was time to hit the mainline. Here we see Illinois Central 382 heading across the trestle near the industial park

sitting in the Evansville yard

switching going on in Evansville

looking up towards the Sparta sub

A set of Rock Island road engines leaving Evansville

a meeting at Hilltop

More fun to come today

Great pics Aaron!

Why does Ric always have to be the rerailer? I thought he was retired??

It appears that Ric is the only one who is on the ground. Maybe he just stays there as Official Rerailer.

Or maybe Ric is the only one still able to get back up on his feet…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Good pix Aaron!

Thanks for posting the photos

Look like a it was a lot of fun.

I really like;

Nice pics Aaron. Those distance shots really exploit the size. Looks like another good time for the attendees.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

One day I’ll get there…!!!

It’s a diesel and freight Mecca!!

Love it!

It was a GREAT weekend of running trains, good weather, fine food ( plenty of chocolate ), friends, and smart remarks. Added was some history on local railroads, street cars, bridges and tunnels

I’m thankful the weather co-operated. That makes for a great fun filled time, with great hosts, and great guests.

Made it two days without breaking anything.

Bring on June.

EDIT: Would like to thank Andy and Jane for the cookie contribution which became my breakfast.

Yes, Now I feel I have a good feel for what Andy’s place must be like. Huge! Neat to see the Caboosezeebo in relation to the railroad and house too. “diesel and freight Mecca!!” seems pretty right on too. Well done Andy. I’m impressed.

It was a fantastic weekend. Probably the best Ops Session, so far. Aaron your pictures are fantastic! Just to set the record straight, if you guys look close, Bill Payne, was also down on the ground working on track or re-railing. For the amount of track on the ground the problems are few. Everyone gives a couple of hours of maintenance, to get things going in the morning. Andy and Jane work their tails off all year long to allow us to play for a couple of days. A big thanks for a big project and a whole lot of fun.

As time allows, I’m going to try to write a little about “Andy’s Overlook Switching Puzzle”. Its a good one.

I was there on Sat. It was a great time with great people who love to operate trains and have fun. I’m looking forward to the next operation time.

Awesome pictures. Hate that I missed it.

I’m greedy. More pics. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Thanks all… Aaron, thanks for posting the pics…

Sunday’s load was 22 people and 20 trains… Was a great time…

Today was a ““railfan”” day, left at 8 am, just got back at 5 pm… Am beat…

Pictures will have to wait for a day or 2…

Fred, I won’t. I can’t imagine the shear amount of maintenance to keep something that nice, looking and working that nice. In other words, I am too lazy to have a wonderful set up like that.
