I’m a BAGRS member here in the San Francisco Bay Area and received a link to the eNewsletter in the October BAGRS Trellis and Trestle news letter. I found it very informative and a great addition to all the info. here on LSC. It is 42 pages so it is quite long, but you can pick and choose what may interest you.

I didn’t renew my membership in the BAGRS club this year but would still like to receive the newsletter.

Thanks, Todd!

Michael, check you messages…

We made our case that if this is limited to just Clubs, a large portion of the hobby will be omitted. This was in fact confirmed by Marc Horovitz, as well as four G-scale Facebook sites.

It was agreed that this would be made available to all and we are in the process of working out a method of delivery, probably through Facebook at least for now. There are those requesting email delivery, and this may happen at some point in the future. It should be available to all very soon and I will keep everyone posted.

Unfortunately, at this time articles will be taken from the various Club newsletters, primarily because they are “ready to go.” At some time in the future, there may also be the mechanism for individuals to submit “camera ready” articles. I know that there is a lot of talent here and would hate to see it go to waste.

You are all to be thanked!

Todd

Yes, sure like the idea.

Count me in. A great idea for us Lone Wolf guys without a club to attach to.

Rather than Facebook or an email “push” perhaps it could be posted in the “cloud” as public, i.e. Google Cloud, MS OneDrive, etc. Then it would be the reader’s responsibility to view/download it and there would be no need to manage email addresses.

Just had opportunity to glance through sample edition. First blush is that this is the start on worthy endeavor and we should support. lots of photo, interactive links, broad spectrum of articles. Unclear if there will be regular contributors for columns or a series of articles. Sample execution gets my vote. The question is and wii be can it continue?

At this time there are no regular columns, but plans call for a Featured Layout and the Letters to the Editor as regular features. Carla will always include a variety of articles and builds interesting to all aspects of the hobby, just as she did in the first issue.

The “headings” that you see on each column (e.g., View from the Cab, View from the Cupola, etc.) are the actual headings used in the various Clubs’ newsletters. My monthly column (for the last 123 months straight) has always been called A View From the Cab, (as was my predessor’s) and I am honored that Carla asked if she could use this as the opening column heading (but not necessarily using my column) in future issues. Again at this time, articles will be taken from the various Club newsletters, primarily because they are “ready to go.” However, recognize that in this first, sample edition of the Newsletter, articles were drawn from just 13 Clubs in five states. Several other Clubs have already asked to be included, and many have newsletters. (Over 125 Clubs have been identified and contacted.) It could come to where Carla may have over 100 newsletters to go through every other month. At some time in the future, there may also be the mechanism for individuals to submit “camera ready” articles. Again, I know that there is a lot of talent here and would hate to see it go to waste.

Thanks for the vote.

We are hoping that it will continue…, and grow.

OK, it has happened!

The first edition of the eNewsetter can be downloaded by anyone from the San Diego Garden Railway Society’s web site at the link. Thanks go to Greg Elmassian who is the SDGRS webmaster for posting this.

I hope everyone enjoys it as you helped make this happen. If you have positive thoughts, don’t hesitate to post them.

The link to it is at: http://www.sdgrs.com/

Once there go to "New: Garden Railroad eNews newsletters, CLICK HERE to download the file.

Thanks guys!

Hi Todd,

Just got a copy via my local club - Christchurch Garden Railway Society. Our secretary said the articles etc may extend to include New Zealand and Australia input so hopefully we can contribute too.

Well done to all the people who put this together.

Cheers

If you received your copy through your Club, and your Club has a Newsletter and has elected to share it with the group, I have no doubt that articles from “Down Under” will show up in print. It will nice to see how things are done elswhere. I keep wondering how you guys even keep your trains on the tracks… Seems like they should “fall upwards.” (BTW, ask Tony to support the effort and take out an ad for RCS. BTW, if you see a green 1970 Corvette convertible driving around town, that was mine and it now belongs to an owner in Christchurch. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
