Wood For Ties

BTW,

Rick uses Llagas Creek tie strips. I don’t think he handspikes.

I’m too cheap to be able to afford plastic tie strips, and then someday I eventually want to move the rail slightly wider… So yah I’m cheap. $150 worth of spikes and free lumber equals a lot more track than $150 worth of tie strips.

Rick now uses Llagas creek and many other brands of track and tie strips becaus Rick has hand spiked more than enough rail to last him a long time. truthfully when the track is 3/4 buried in ballast and dirt and vegetation it is pretty hard to notice the difference.

Edit to add, the only hand spiking/wood ties I do now days is for detailed models or dio’s.
