My wife did. I now have boxes of Band-aids in various locations where I use all those tools.
Safety First
For ShedOps 2024, you’re going to have potentially dangerous equipment that people are going to want to touch. Finding the right sign for the right place is essential. For example Herself and I have different thermostat preferences, depending on the season. (The Rotisserie snd Yeti settings have lessened since the “I saw that” stickers have placed at thermostat control.)
Unfortunately Herself found my stash and one of these has appeared in her craft room.
Proper clothing is also important. It’s always important to balance EAT & SLEEP with adequate TRACK CONTRUCTION.
Bulb drills have taken the Düress out of the DÜRR build.
Don’t forget your Darwin.
The above found here:
a first aid kit on a christmas time wishlist?
shouldn’t that be a normal household item?
like a bottle opener, and a cork screw?
Yes, but that one won’t be in the workshop/garage when you need it. Two or three, in appropriate places, would be better.
seems, that i did not express myself well.
i’ll try again: first-aid kits as well as fire extinguishers and flashlights belong in more than one place in every house, shed, workshop. they are basic safety provisions.
as such they belong on the “must have” list, not on a “wish list”.
sorry, but as firefighter/rescuer i have seen too many additional damage due to lack of preparation.

Linda,
- Do you do stocking stuffers?
- Is Christmas at your place?
- Are the kids up way too early, wanting to dig into the parcels?
If the answer yes, then Washi packing tape should be on the list. It’s also called stationary tape.
now hear me out as this is going to sound like blasphemy… but…
-
Get the kids (I’m including Cliff here) a small toy train (preferably the Ghan or the Indian Pacific, not Amtrak), with rubber wheels and place one in each stocking.
-
Make sure that the kids know that if they wake up early they can quietly dig into the stockings.
-
Get Cliff to turn on the coffee machine before he digs into his stocking. This is an important step.
Now here’s where the Washi Tape comes in…
Use Washi Tape to wrap all the presents
Guaranteed to:
- Let you sleep in, at least until the coffee is ready
- Distract the kids (I’m including Cliff here). They will be building railways and Cliff will be making waybills for present distribution.
- lead to the gentle unwrapping of presents.
How do I know this works? Herself did not test this on animals, but successfully went into human trials. I was occupied for hours… But I forgot to turn on the coffee machine.
Here is what Herself bought.
PS. Don’t be surprised if Cliff returns the favour. I’ve sent him a yarn related link to support your hobby.

Folks;
How about a round tuit. For all those projects you’ll finish when you get a round tuit!
Just a thought, David Meashey
For Sean (not sure why, just seems appropriate ):
And Dave:
All worthy causes, Rooster. These days we mainly contribute to World Vision International. Their gift catalog is great, you can buy-give chickens, goats, etc. to a needy family in a troubled area.
Cliff;
We give to Heffer, but the goals are about the same. Also, our church participates in a project called Backpack Ministry, where food to last a weekend is put into the backpacks of needy school children.
Best, David Meashey
down here its more complicated. one does not donate - that would hurt the pride of the needy.
instead one participates.
if - for instance - somebody needs an expensive surgery, somebody (often a relative) invites to a paid “take home barbecue”. prices are normally three to four times the worth of the food.
(and if somebody buys more tickets, than he has persons in his house, “it is known” how many portions need not be prepared)
or they organize “loteries”, where one can win a thermos or something similar.
as i wrote, complicated, but effective.
I have mentioned this type of assistance to my state senator Korm. With the idea of opening a general store(s) in Appalchian communities where they don’t want hand outs because of their pride. But if a local store could be stocked with goods bought with welfare funds and in turn sold to the people who have a government account who could purchase say can goods for $.10 a can or a new pair of pants for $2.00 they would maintain their pride yet be getting what they need. I’m glad to see others have already made use of this method somewhat.
