Al little off-topic, but all I can tell you is that the Accucraft 1:20.3 wheels use 4mm axles that are somewhat shorter than Bachmann steel wheels, which use a 3mm axle. While you are checking wheelsets, check axle diameter.
Hi Daryl,
Once upon a time, I went to the former D&RGW yard in Silverton and measured the height of the couplers on every car in the yard (the D&RGW used standard gauge couplers on its narrow gauge equipment). Those couplers all measured between 9" and 11" in height.
I am currently using the Kadee Type E’s. They measure a scale 11 1/2" in 1:29.
For the ends of cars and cabooses and the fronts of locomotives I use Burl Rice’s couplers - can’t be beat for realism and work fine with the Kadees:
Cheers,
Matt
Perhaps this was covered and I missed it but as for the spinning roller bearing caps. The Aristo ones don’t really last as the caps crack and fall off anyway so I would frown against them. However you can always get the USA trains R2042 truck as the bearing caps do spin on them and they are one solid built nice (heavy) truck! It would probably be a cheaper and easier option than having Gary Raymond make custom axles. Just screw them on…
Only a thought and perhaps it was already mentioned?

Thanks Matt.
I didn’t that Burl did couplers.
I certainly wish he would start making car kits again.
Daryl
The USAT metal trucks are very nice but I believe what Daryl is looking for is a more prototypical flange. e.g. Gary Raymond “Fine Scale”
I can’t speak for Burl, but he’s a busy man these days with his young kids and house remodeling projects. I took wish that he’ll return to the hobby!
