Large Scale Central

What to make out of a Connie?

Mark, make sure you do a full log for building that loco! I can’t wait to see how it turns out. Other than the Roundhouse live steam model, I have never seen any other attempts in this scale of that Sandy River arrangement.

Joe is right also, it is Sandy River and the gauge would be 2 foot. So I guess thats 7/8 scale?

I have a Connie too, with a stripped drive train- not sure what to do with it yet at this point. I did a little bit of modifying for the time being and stripped off all of the valve gear to give it a “stephenson” look.

And with a new live steam loco on the way, and a new layout in planning, it may be on the back burner for a while now anyways. But with the likes of summer here in arizona most of my “projects” are done during the summer time.

Joe/Matt…Expensive because I have been considering a SRRL style caboose project with eyes towards a Connie bash “similar” to the SRRL #24. Four days ago I had no desire for another Connie…Now?

Finally a reason to look forward to winter.

Mark, Matt, yup, SR&RL is 7/8ths for those of us using Gauge 3. Looks really cool, because the track seems so narrow and the locos and cars seem so big. But consider the size of everything. If ya think 1:20.3 is big, 7/8ths is bigger again. BTW, as models of that railroad go, I think Dave Frary’s HO-gauge SR&RL is the best. Very inspirational too.
