Large Scale Central

UP Caboose Build

Doug, mine printed off fine, then I sprayed them several times with clear coat, but when I put them on the water smeared them, despite the sealer. I’ve had good luck with laser ones, just have to put them on a disc and take them over to get printed. If I need whites though I usually go to Stan.

I’m using the decal paper from a firm in Texas or Oklahoma and it’s been “behaving” so far. How long were you leaving it in the water? I’ve only been holding it in there for 10-20 seconds, not like an article I read. Maybe that’s the problem/

I don’t know, sticking with the laser paper right now, have to take it over to a person to print it off on her color laser printed. Need to call her, thanks!

If you have access to a laser printer, use it!

I made the rails for the caboose from 1/16" brass bent to shape. Found some K&S diamond plate brass sheet at a CHicago hobby shop when I went out to see my son there a month ago. Local(80 miles) shop is pretty lame on stuff like that, he’s mostly R/C cars and planes and cares little about anything else. Ends are from a New Bright caboose. Will get the trucks I made on soon. Found some springs at the True Value store that will work fine and I won’t have to roll my own. Did find some tubing at the hobby shop to make the spring perches from. Molded the trucks and cast a few to use later on other projects.
