Union Pacific SD40N - Teaser

Could you print the nose as flat pieces and then assemble? I see 5 flat pieces that might print a little cheaper because of the lack of ‘hollow’ spaces.

I thought of that but in the end ruled it out because I didn’t want to deal with the seams. The other advantage to what I’m doing now is I can use the basic nose for the other loco, and just change the detail pieces.

Hmmmm……I wonder if Chris has secretly finished this project…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)

And we’re back…

Well, days are getting shorter, weather is getting colder, wife is pretty much healed from surgery so I can get back on the bench for winter projects.

So here’s were we are as of now:

The fuel gauge and filler vent pipes have been added to the fuel tank. Next up are spare knuckle brackets and the tank is ready for paint.

Break chain bracket has been added

Dryer is mounted:

Coupler mounts are in:

Next up is to grind off the anti-climber and replace it and the drop step. Add the hose retainers and snowplow along with the ditch lights. Have to bend up the coupler bars also and we should be ready to prime the frame and maybe paint it.

Oh no, I better hurry and back to my GP30 build. You’re working from the bottom up and I’m working from the top down…

With the frame rails added, did you have to raise the trucks at all, or do they clear the frame rails without modifications?

I am making new mounts. Going to be close might have to trim the rails a bit.
