Yes John you can follow some of the line on the Mickelson Trail system. But most of the trail runs between Edgemont and Deadwood on the old BN line. The line that starts at Mystic and heads toward Rapid City has spots where there are trails but much of it is now private land. Also the spot where the railroad went through a large steep canyon area is now under Pactola Lake.
If you are looking at the Unitah RR. there is another that ran in same vacinity and it was the Bookcliff RR. It supplied coal to Grand Junction and the Unitah RR. I drove the railroad line over Baxter pass this past September and it was like super highway with all the hunters and oil workers using the road. Not the best road but drivable. Still old foundations but most everything else is gone. If you want to see old Unitah cars and caboose they are at Cross Orchard Museum in Grand Junction. Good display.
