Magnetic stone, around DC motors with permanent magnets. Gee, that doesn’t sound like a great idea.

Sounds like the splines we used on the smaller stuff. Laminating strips glued together when bent will dry in the curve…
Down here termites eat redwood, needs to be heartwood for any prevention.
'cuse me but don’t the rungs hang between the side frames?
John
yeah your right the rungs are the cross pieces

David,
It’s not magnetic it’s self, but, a magnet can pick it up: IE a nail is not magnetic, but, you know the rest… It doesn’t affect the motor.
You haven’t found bits of that stone, hanging on the motor cases?
When I started my railroad I used A1 slag. Most of it is non magnetic. I tested it before I bought it with a strong magnet. But, in the how many tons of it that I used, there were some magnetic particles in there. So I find little bits of it stuck to the motor cases of some of my locomotives from time to time. No, it hasn’t done any harm, but the idea of loose particles finding their way inside of gearboxes doesn’t make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

David, have not found any in 7 years.
Ok then.
Never mind.
I’d take that not as a rebuke, but some people are geographically lucky, and some people are not.
Greg
Greg, I didn’t take it as a rebuke. But I thought that I should respond so it didn’t appear that I was ignoring Dan, and I didn’t really know what to say.
David,
You asked a question,:“You haven’t found bits of that stone, hanging on the motor cases?” I answered,: “David, have not found any in 7 years.” You answered,: “Ok then.Never mind.” I don’t find any of that conversation negative, it’s short and to the point. Not sure what Greg’s comment was about.(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)
Me neither. But maybe, with a different vocal inflection, the “Never mind” could have sounded like I was put off. Which I wasn’t.
But, its best to cover this, so that no one is upset due to a misinterpretation. Neither of us took any of that as negative. So its all good.
I took offense

Now I have to ask, why and where did you take the fence?
Where I took it I can’t tell you. But as for why I took it… am holding it ransom for
Did anybody take the OPS Trex boards off his hands. We seriously derailed this thread like from the second reply.

Wait wrong thread! Is this the “Amtrak Round and Round the Vegetable Garden” thread?
Only because you chose to model Amtrak. It takes a real weirdo, like me, to model something even more bizarre.
