Ken,

Your boxes and packing cases have always been an inspiration to what I have done.

My last case to show is a bucket, with a lid that becomes a seat and holds my steaming water, gas and oil.

My stuff doesn’t travel any further than from the house to the yard.
Stackable cases would make even this easier as well as save space indoors.

Didn’t realize there was already a thread on carrying cases so here’s my entry into the thread. It is not completely finished yet coming up with more and more ideas to automatically let engine load and unload itself under its own battery power from the front and or rear!!! This will carry a full length engine and tender even the re done k-27 and still have room to tilt in a 1/2 a boxcar for short carry’s to the back yard saving multiple trips. Built with 4ft pieces of cedar fencing material. The Regal

Jerry,

That style may be something that would work to carry Tom Ruby’s Mallet. It is a long engine w/tender and that case may work for the balance needed.

YEP RICK, USED IT ALL DAY YESTERDAY OUT ON THE LAYOUT MADE A MINOR MODIFICATION ON IT NOW IT WILL HAUL ABOUT ANY LENGTH INCLUDING TENDER AND HALF A BOXCAR HAH THE REGAL

4ft would be just about right

this is not vsmith engine?

Sean,

You said - “this is not vsmith engine?”

I’m sorry your comment/statement/question went over my head. Please explain.

Might it be a reference to Vic Smith ??

Had to load up some engines & cars last night for a stop at Dave R’s CVRR at the tail end of our EBT trip. Taking the same 3 RS-3’s I had up at Fred’s a few years back plus my Cheesy Sound Car and my Quick & Dirty Bat/RC Trail Car. I don’t have any fancy carrying cases, nor any tubs to pack them in. What I do have is a very long & narrow heavy cardboard box that my hitch came in. The top & bottom separate into two complete open top boxes. One holds two RS-3’s and the other a single RS-3 and the two cars. To cushion the insides and between the engines I use large sheets of bubble wrap that I salvaged from a large furniture delivery at work. The boxes have convenient hand holes for carrying and they are low enough to fit in the under-bed storage in the RV.

Someday I’ll build a proper carrier or three

Just being the smart **** that I am.
I don’t know but he does come up with some weird stuff! http://www.largescalecentral.com/LSCForums/viewtopic.php?id=11567 He has a good sense of humor!

Here are the hinges that would make this case close to perfect… http://www.hardwaresource.com/Store_ViewProducts.asp?Cat=933 A hinge that once opens allows the cover to come completely off.

The EBT 10 can just run out the end of the storage case.

It works it’s way down the grooves of the inside of the case end drop gate.

Aligns on to the Bachmann track.

And on to the 45 mm layout track.

The piece of Bachmann track stores by wedging between the base and the top of the case in front of the engine.

And a battery charger is even built into the other end of the case. Pretty much a complete package.

Don,

You’re right, those are cool. The hinges on the sides have been a problem.
