‘Optimum’ is a moving target. It all depends on the amount of air being moved. In the case of what Noel already has working, to make the nozzle wider, I would need to make it smaller in the other direction. Making the nozzle wider would also require making the transition longer to keep it working properly.
I don’t have the space here (nor am I good teacher) to fully explain the how’s and why’s. Generally speaking, what you are creating is an ‘air knife’. The same idea used by Home Depot, Lowes, etc on the big doors in the colder climates when you get the blast of warm air blowing down on you.
