Critters

They have an unusual N-scale layout on the site. Unusual in as much as it has a lot more trees than the usual layouts. Enough trees to have the RR RoW as a secondary notion. Just like real life.

Old Timers

One Baggage car is filled with displays of “old junk” aka electro-mechanical components from long ago. Very interesting stuff, perfect for “what is it” shows.

And … a working set-up to dial and admire the different signal aspects.

Inspiration??

Very versatile little bus (as per description)

This one would also look good sitting by the engine shed.

Now the ones from Union Station.

BTW reading the plaque in the first one was a big surprise. Imagine that, Winnipeg the proving ground for Grand Central Station!?!

That must have been a busy place back then.

Thanks for that beautiful post, H-J. The dome is breathtakingly elegant, and that’s just the beginning.

That Mac railbus is something I’d pay good money ot ride in, and i bet I wouldn’t be alone.

My apologies for the wacky colour tones in some of the pictures - especially at the museum. The light at the museum was very “variable”, but I’m not sure if part of the problem was using the camcorder in still mode. I’ll try some test pictures with the camcorder and the P&S cam; just to know better next time and not be too lazy to carry two cameras.

Thanks tac,

The station has been renovated quite recently, the only area that is still old and grungy is the passenger platform. That and the fact that on a long train like ours we had the “pleasure” to make our way from car 22 to car 13 to get off.

Crew member: “Sorry, the train is too long.”

HJ : “Really, it isn’t the platform that’s too short?”

Crew: “

BTW for those planning a trip to Winnipeg a visit to the Prairie Dog Central is recommended http://www.pdcrailway.com

Some samples on that in a separate thread.
