Oh. Lord! Now yer gonna hafta mow it, and the kids are all growed up and gone!
That’s OK Steve, I have a riding lawn mower and besides I would rather see green and mow instead of pulling weeds all summer long. Not to mention that momma is very happy now and I can get back to my train projects.

Chuck,
Can you bring the Lionel bell to the next meeting? Thanks.

Well you won’t find any trains running in these pictures but it does show the layout with our completed summer project, “GRASS” in the back yard. Finally finished the sprinklers, then spread 12 yards of top soil, and had the area hydro seeded yesterday. Its nice to see green around the layout and not dirt and weeds.
View from the side of the shop.

That’s going to look great when the grass grows in!
Chuck,
a question about your grass seeding. Is that going to have time to sprout and become hardy before your coupler deep in snow???
That is going to be a beautiful backyard/setting for your raised railroad when the new grass is all green and your looking across at it from the shade tree by the porch. Well worth all the work.
Rick
Thanks Rick,
Looks a little differnet from when you visited during the summer. Actually the hydro seed is a dormant blend that is sprayed this time of the year. It will start to germinate then lay dormant under the snow and continue germinating come Spring once the snows gone. Thats when you need to keep it watered so it can grow nice and healthy. This is how we did the front yard many years ago and it turned out great. The company that did the spray will also come back in the Spring if we have areas that need re-spraying at no charge.
All I know is I don’t have to work on the sprinklers or move dirt anymore. And yes the view from the shade tree or the porch will be just fine next year.
Chuck
Hi Chuck,
I thought it must be something like that, laying dormant over the winter that is. Well next summer you will have plenty to mow. The good thing about a riding mower is that you won’t spill your beer if you go slow, also going slow allows more time to not spill your beer
Are you getting freezing nights yet? Talked with a friend in Grangeville last night and they are hitting the high 20’s already. BRRRR it was 42 here this morning and I was half frozen:)
Take care
Rick
Hi Rick,
Oh ya the temps are dropping fast. We had a low of 27 this morning and a high of 43 with pretty much the same thing for tomorrow and Friday. Warming up to 46 over the weekend.
I’ll do my final mow of the front yard tomorrow to pick-up the last of all the leaves, then I can take the mower bed off of the lawn tractor and put the snow blower on. That way I’ll be ready for the first snowfall which they are predicting by the middle of November.
Sure glad the shop is insulated and the wood burning stove is all ready to go. I’ll have a nice warm place to go play.
Chuck
OK I think this fits right in with the “Autumn” pictures. While out fixing the back fence to keep the deer off of my new lawn I saw this next door. I just hope he or she stays over there.

That’s wild livestock and it eats anything it wants.
Sure looks nice Chuck.

Richard
2 weekends ago stopped to Branch Brook RR nice day
Nice pictures. I finally got my layout cleared of the leaves. Getting it ready for some possible snow tonight.
Great Pics… Nice to see some New England railroads…
Really nice photos guys but those “things” sure like to mug for the camera.
There is something appealing to a train heading ove a bridge. It is a photo op waiting to happen.
