figured if I’m going to go big in the hobby, might as well go for it hahaha didn’t think i would win it for the opening bid, but now that I did I have something to keep me out of trouble, or maybe get me into more, not sure which hahaha

Worse comes to worse, you can always re-gauge it and run it on Andy’s layout. Sorta of a crew trolley to get operators out to the far reaches of no-mans land…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

PERFECT!! Hint hint Andy, get busy(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

So is there a local support group? Any examples out at the Museum of Transportation, Monticello or up at Union? The measurements you were speaking of 3/8 inch and 5/16 inch, is that wheel flange? This is great, you can research this any where. What is the engine?

The 3/8 is the thickness of the wheel on the rail surface. Section cars need a minimum of 1/8", and gang cars seen 5/16" to meet NARCOA standards. The motor that came factory in the A4 is a 2.3 litre Ford 4 cylinder (same used later in the Ford Ranger) and a 4 speed transmission.

As for local motor car clubs, the closest I have seen so far is in Iowa, but still searching  they do runs that are closer though for when the time comes

Can it be multi - gaged for running on NG?

That would be awesome, but not with how the frame is set up. I have heard of them being regauged for narrow gauge use, so i may look into it to see whats involved, cause I would love to do a run on the D&S when they do speeder excursions out there

Well, sure hate to slide down the slippery slope alone (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

It still needs a bit of work, but the price was right, especially since it had good wheels and brakes (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Today it was unloaded, unfortunately it got to dark to get more pics, so hopefully tomorrow.

You really need to get yourself a hobby Aaron!

Aaron, you’er going to have a lot of fun with that when it’s complete and you take it to meets. I rebuilt 3 motor cars one very similar to that at the R.R. museum here in Savannah. Have fun.

That is awesome Louis!! I am looking forward to tearing into this one  any advice?

Here in North Idaho there is a speeder club somewhere close by that runs the various abandon rails. The guy who bought St Maries River Railroad also owns the Bountiful Grain and Craig Mountain RR and he lets them run on both the abandon and active tracks. He is also friendly to rail bikes. I want to build one and ride from St Maries to Clarkia Idaho. But if you bring your speeder to Idaho maybe we can talk them into running it instead. much nicer on my legs.

Let’s build a tandem rail bike.

Why so i can peddle while you sit in the back and put your feet up?(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)

Fast you learn, Grasshopper. Catch the fly soon, you will.

Aaron, I’m glad to see that you chose to embrace your so called addiction and are moving on to greater heights. I am glad you didn’t let the nay sayers hold you back. Nice vehicle you should have a lot of fun rebuilding and riding it for years to come.(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

For sure, I am learning to embrace it for all its worth lol

Today the weather was fair, and I was bored, so I took to the shop with a few tools. I removed what was left of the plywood cab, floor work may start tomorrow. Here are a few pics

and found this on the frame. Serial number?
