Apologies I probably should have added the phrase “with room to expand”. I think that’s been the problem Dave.
I love beautiful wood. If I start small, I won’t be able to work the big stuff. I’ve got a fantastic little model machine table saw already,. It is incredibly precise and low maintenance. But I’ve been quite limited in what I can cut.
And I did do some woodwork as a kid (built bathroom cabinets out of oak for the parents bathroom) but on a 5hp Powermatic saw, and I thought that’s what I’d get, until I saw the Rolls Royce price, and yet thought that is what I’d end up with… eventually.
Almost bought a shopsmith too when I had limited space but realised I would be spending more time setting up features than using the features.
Then I took up woodcarving as I could do that anywhere. And I can say that I’m probably the okayest carver on my block.
I’ve got room to get a quality bandsaw or a table saw now, and I have aspirations of being a good woodworker and modeller.
