Here’s an interesting vid of several other loco oddities. I like the 2-10-10-2.

There’s a Heisler photo around somewhere with a diesel engine?

Until I find it, try this:

My favorite locomotive is the Pennsylvania 460. It has a strange storied past. This Atlantic Class E6s, (4-4-2) has very large drivers, 80 inches. (can you say fast)

This picture before it’s 2010 restoration is the only surviving loco of the class, now known as the “Lindbergh Special” or the “Lindbergh Engine”

Some more about the Lindbergh Special here:

My favourite weirdo is…

The Brunton Steam Horse was built for use on a mining conveyor. It sported a pair of mechanical legs with feet that gripped the rails at the rear of the engine to push it forward at the amazing speed of about three mph.

Cool model! Was there a non-Lego version made?

[edit] Apparently there was! He’s a fascinating video:

It reminds me of the “walking man” ore car, which I’ve seen in a couple versions, one being this:

I believe I saw a 1:1 model in a museum somewhere too.

I raise your man power to dog power.
