Cheaper. I bought a spool of the brown stuff from SVRR first. I intentionally got clear, though, so I could see if any moisture or crud gets in it. It was $130 for a thousand feet.
This is the other end of the conduit, where the clear hose is/will be spliced to the UV stable stuff.

Eric, you may have mentioned this before, but do you have a drier on your air line from your compressor?
I see you bought the expensive metal fittings, I bought the cheap plastic ones. I actually have had more issues with metal manifolds and fittings where they got into moisture, and more leaky metal manifolds.

I do have a drier, and the compressor will be in the house. The butt splice fittings are from a dental equipment supplier on eBay. None of them will be exposed to the elements.
For those that are following along like me I would just like to add. The bigger the compressor tank (reserve)the less the compressor runs . The less the compressor runs the less moisture you will have. Honestly the CFMs that system is using is minimal or at least I suspect it is as it’s only activating switches? It’s not like you are painting a vehicle or running a bead blast cabinet? The cooler the air is and the less you compress it the less condensate you will have. I personally would be more inclined to add an oiler instead of a drier if you even need to go that far. However I know absolutely NOTHING about air activated switches as my RR is purely roundy round with A switch. But I do think it’s pretty cool and following along.
First run outdoors yesterday. I’m happy to report that none of my concrete moved at all. It was worth the effort.

Looks great. You did pour a lot of concrete. How cold did it get this last winter? Is that access door going outside automatic?
Wow, that’s awesome. I must say the few sections of my road that are on concrete have been the least problematic. I probably didn’t go quite as heavy as you - 5" slabs, I think; but they don’t move in relationship to my sidewalks & foundation.
BTW - Don’t let Ken drive until you get that loop done unless you want to see your loco in the abyss :o
Really spectacular. And not just the railroad. That outdoor oven looks like it will survive until the next ice age. And that’s what, next winter in Maine? Looking forward to you filling in more of your empire…

We didn’t have a lot of snow this year, but it did get pretty cold. January averaged in the 20s. Didn’t get to 0 this year.
I was just pulling a string to open the door. I do have an actuator to install at some point. There will be an interlocking signal around the bend, of course!

I do have one suggestion …the section of track leading up to the pizza oven would be a great location for a snow shed… Less cleaning required…
