something philosophic...

I’m in, I know the project, I even have a build log started on it.

Now, Is this super loosey goosey , and I should just start posing in my log again or should we all start new logs with “FAPC” (Finish a Project Challenge) before the title? Or… Maybe no prizes, no hub bub, just lets finish our creations and have good railroady conversation. Maybe one thread on Jan 1 where we all post finished pictures…

Randy,

Just start building, if you want to post, post, if not don’t. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)I like a little bit of motivation to finish projects, so I thought a collaborative effort might be kind of fun. That’s why I thought of Jan 1st as a good ending day because it gives 3 + months to finish something, and if you work slow you might get it finished or 75% of the way done. Heck, with my snow dozer project I’ve been trying to work just a few minutes here and there and I feel like I’ve gotten somewhere. It’s very easy for me at least at the end of the day just to pull up a chair and watch the TV and try to relax. But if I’ve got a soft deadline, I would spend that same amount of time working on railroad projects. When you ask some of these accomplished modelers how they completed their layouts they say that they spent 30 minutes every day working on something. With the new school year starting, I’m trying to get into good habits with my teaching (and leaving school work at school, that’s a joke) so I thought I might challenge myself to get into a good habit of modeling.

I’d rather go with projects incomplete, as that means to me that I’ve been active and interested. On my tombstone it will readd “I TOLD you I was sick.”

Ok, my first indoor project is…finding my workbench. Somehow a pile of “stuff” has grown on it again.

That hits a little too close to home… I cleared off just enough room today to work on modifying some new Bachmann switch throws, but it’s still a bloomin’ mess otherwise.

Later,

K

Sorry Kevin. I swore the last how many times that I excavated my workbench, that it would never get that bad again. But, really, if I were to finish the 3 flat cars, the 5 MDC hopper cars, and the two cabeese, I would have a somewhat clear workbench again.

I’m in gentlemen if we get a few more interested. I started an ore train about two years ago that i wanted finished before Christmas two years ago and I never go there…here is a video of it, and I had a couple of discussions here about lowering the ore cars and making the caboose. I’d be willing to donate a nice framed pen and ink drawing and medallion of one of the narrow gauge railroads as an informal prize for whomever we feel deserves it. Nothing real fancy, but nice and just a little informal incentive for the heck of it.

John, yes, this is a kinda informal thing, but we also need some guidelines. I wouldn’t call them rules.

As for my cabeese, the LGB marker lamps arrived this week. So besides a few bits to annoy the electrons flowing to the lamps, I should have all of the parts I need, now.

Talk of a prize kinda turns me offf here… never got the one I won…

Have your fun, I’m back to pleasing me.

John

Self pleasuring, wouldn’t that post belong in “other hobbies”?

John, I do agree with you. This should be a friendly challenge between friends.

LSC?? - missnamed! it should be called LTD forum (large thread drift)

but i think, we are drifting in a good direction.

i would like to propose just one rule. the project in question should be “seasoned”. at least half a year old.

prize-wise i am against second prizes. everybody will get a first prize… a finished project (plus a bonus: some square inches of visible working table)

Korm,

I like your thoughts. “Seasoned” is a nice way to say “It’s been forgotten about…” (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)I’ll start a new thread in the general discussion for those folks that haven’t been following this one.

Are you ok?

You changed the wording of one of my posts to bring in a non-intended sexual bent and this one goes farther!

You seem to have a problem and I wish you’d leave me out of it.

Not amused.

John, I am sorry. I was a bit punchy that night from my cold. I was trying to be funny, not offensive. I was totally inappropriate in my post, and I do apologize.

David,

Apology accepted, I hope you feel better.
