Servo shutting off

Hi Shawn.

When you bought the system I did not have the DSM2-EM(AB) RX available.

The specs of the new RX are that it does nothing if the TX signal is lost or the TX is switched OFF. The servos hold station until the signal is regained and control resumes.

What strange to me is when I had the Planet controler/receiver in the same Forney and inside the metal bunker, I never had an issue with loosing reception until recently. The same issue is occuring with the Orange and TX. Could I be getting interference from something?

I doubt interference is the problem.

Please try what I suggested in the earlier post and let me know the result.

Tony I did try everything and it works better but depending where Im standing, it still shuts down in the tunnel. Im going to try to reset the fail safe and see if I can at least keep the servo from shutting the throttle off.

OK Shawn.

I think the problem with reprogramming the RX will be you cannot simply turn the fail safe OFF. You have to enter a value for it to fail safe to.

Try half throttle and see how that works.

Isn’t that why they call it a “fail safe”, because when it “fails” it goes to a “safe” position?

Yes David.

When it goes to fail safe the loco stops. In a tunnel is less than ideal for retrieval.

Ideally the RX could be programmed to ignore the fail safe. Unfortunately, it cannot so a value other than zero is the best that can be expected, depending on what throttle setting will just slow rather than stop the loco. Better than having it accelerate.

I just wanted to update everyone on my progress. I discovered what was causing the servo to shut off. I was running the Forney (shut up Rooster) on my modular last night to see how it would react in my new house. I had no issues with the servos. The last month or so I started thinking about why I never had issues the the first few years and then all of a sudden I started getting issues. I also noticed everything worked great when running at the fair or in Scranton. Why was that? About two years ago I had solar panels put in. The system requires wireless system that allows me to get access to a web based system that allows me to check on my solar panels production etc… The system is very close to my layout. For some reason the solar was interfering with the RC on my Forney. When I think back the issues started when I got the solar panels installed. That also explains why the RC worked when I would test it in my garage but as soon as it went on my layout it went crazy. Im not sure what the wireless frequency is or how it works but there is no doubt in my mind that, that is what was causing my issues.

Makes sense to me. Glad you figured it out!

Shawn,

I think it was aliens!
