Those 1500’s would be riding on Flexicoil trucks which means they could keep up with the big boys. They are also MU equipped, so basically you have 4 GP9’s (modernized). The Canadian guys will tell you that CN isn’t bashful at all about stuffing one of their Flexicoil equipped SW1200’s in a consist with road locomotives. I’ve seen them on more than one occasion running on the old CV on through freights out of Montreal. Usually they were with GP38’s (GT) and GP9’s which were the standard CV locomotive. CN ran GP9’s or the SW1200’s on that run. CV ran whatever they could borrow, beg or steal…which was usually the GT GP38’s or their own GP9’s.
