That fire hydrant in the background looks out of scale. Looks almost big enough to be a real one (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif).

How do you know that it’s a fire hydrant? It could possibly be something like a “top secret” droid for his RR or possibly a RR Skunk Works project

Well Rooster, you may be correct, BUT, there are a lot of things in this world I don’t know but I know a fire hydrant when I see one. Now, in Mike’s case, it may be a fire hydrant being repurposed as a “top secret” droid or a Skunk Works project.

Just throwing the possibility out there Dan ? This is 2018 ya’ know!

Is this going to be like a diorama on your layout that you can bring indoors for storage? Or will you leave it outside all year?

[edit] Oops, just saw that you are storing things, good deal.

Yes, here it is in location for a week! I didn’t bother to really set in the road and track since it’s so temporary. Tonight I’ll get some photos when the lights come on.

I noticed this on the video you posted a couple weeks too. That fire hydrant in the background looks out of scale. Looks almost big enough to be a real one (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif).

It’s big enough to be a real one, but it’s not live, LOL

Ya’ see Dan …it’s all part of Mikes top secret plan! So I think he needs a wood fired pizza cooked and delivered for his response!

Looks like an AVK but could be an older Mueller hydrant. I don’t see some of the distinctive Mueller markings but they could be covered from years of paint. I would guess that when the hydrant was in service it would flow somewhere between 501 and 1000 gpm.

Night shots look awesome. I’m not sure why, but scenes like this one seem to look more realistic at night. Thank you for sharing this project with us. Patiently waiting for the next one (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Wow Mike the nite scenes look really great. Yes your printer will give you so much joy

Dennis

Wonderful night shots Mike!

Great looking chain link fence. Awesome.

Nicely done Mike!

I clicked on your link to Thingiverse and see the railing. However, After clicking on your account, I am unable to see any of your designs, collections, makes or likes. Shows “No results found”

That’s weird, it used to work. I see it my home page has entries, but no results when you click on them.

You and I are already following each other on Thingiverse. Links works for Joe, LOL

Now I see what you are saying. If I click on my profile, it shows I have two things, but when you click on that, it shows no results.

I have no idea why, they were published.

Here is the second thing, an I-Beam and cement footer, https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2886250

And just now wading in to this conversation, same here.
The link works fine and that blue footing for the I beam looks to be generally handy for projects at large.

I don’t know what happened, or why it changed. Used to show my designs and collections.

In the meantime, I added them as favorites on my home page, https://www.thingiverse.com/MikeMcL/about So you should be able to see that at the bottom.

And now… just as mysteriously as the links from my page didn’t work… Now they mysteriously work again, LOL
