Saving boxes

Looks like Rooster used almost the same type of storage I did; although MINE was labeled RECYLING (Doesn’t that make me a better person???) (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)Either way, the net result was the same…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

i don’t throw boxes!

i use them to sort junk/spare parts, figures and the like. or i cut them up for building materials.

Since I do all my own repairs I really do not need the boxes, however I do keep all my LGB red boxes. All the LGB toytrain, USA train, Aristocraft, HLW, Bachmann boxes are long gone.

I have a truss roof in my garage that is not supposed to support weight and is a perfect place to store these boxes.

When buying I do not really care if there is no box, keeps the cost down!!!

I have all my boxes in my shed up in the loft area.

It is a great place for ant nests … better there, that in the framing structures …

I do save all of my boxes for 2 reasons:

  1. In Winter, I put them back in the boxes, put boxes on shelves.

  2. After I kick the bucket, someone will get to liquidate my fortune, which will be easier to do with boxes.

The stuff I bought without boxes become displays.

I have all of my stuff stored in boxes. Right now I don’t have a railroad to run anything on, and it is an easier storage solution. Once I get to the point of being able to run trains again, the boxes will be pitched. Although, the idea of selling empty boxes is kind of appealing. Do I get a higher cost if I have the original cardboard sleeves that fit over the LGB boxes?

Having finally moved into our forever home, and not needing to move trains again, the one thing no one ever talks about is how much time you can debate with yourself on keeping a cardboard box because it’s, like, a really good box.

Well you never know when you might find a stray pigeon with a broken wing so it’s also best to keep on hand some dried grass and a glass eyedropper. However if it’s an LGB or Lionel box I have heard that the devil awaits those souls.

Yep! He does await them. And he hides in the details.

if that decision takes you longer than an eye-blink, your DNA profile must be missing the collector’s-gene completely.
