David, go to the AVG site and there are uninstallers that remove all the leftover bits of AVG.

Then do a registry clean with a product like CCleaner (free)

AVG will be totally gone.

Greg

Greg, I don’t mind AVG if it behaves, but it had developed a habit of loading down my CPU, 50 or 60% of my CPU usage was to various parts of AVG, and when that happened, I couldn’t do anything until AVG quit throwing its tantrum. So I tried to uninstall it. Like I said, it repaired itself the next time I booted up my computer, and its been playing nice ever since. Maybe I scared it into behaving. I did that with Oscar. Once he knew I wanted to kill him, he started behaving just fine, and he lived many peaceful years in my pond.

Oscar was a bluegill.

I removed it for the same reason, and what really irritated me is that the updates sneaked some other software “features” in… that really made me mad, since these extra features slowed things down as well as added more popups.

It’s gone gone gone now.

Greg

p.s. when you finally decide to get rid of it, be sure to uninstall all the pieces you find in the add/remove programs and then download the AVG removal tool from the AVG site… ask me how I know this…

I will keep that in mind. But right now, like I said, its behaving. Probably because it knows if it misbehaves again I will kill it. That scenario worked with Oscar.
