Ride the In-ko-pah Railroad -- onboard video!

Ray awsome video and layout. You did an incredile job on that layout. The rock work and buildings fit together very nicely.

I put together a series of clips showing the entire layout, as seen by a "cameraman" riding a flat car on a freight train. It's almost seven minutes long, so it takes a little time to download it, but it's pretty cool:

Ray:

I think I said this before on the GR site. Everytime I see your work I get the strangest desire to go out to my backyard with a sledgehammer and beat the cr** out of my railroads

GR magazine should do a major spread of your railroad.

If John Allen was alive today he would probably take a sledgehammer to his basement railroad of legend and fame.

We all know who John Allen was, right

Looks great Ray. I like the editing technique

I also love the way even the insides of your tunnels look good on video.

Thanks guys!

Rudy – Rene at GR said they were interested in having me write up the layout for the mag a while back. I’ve just been waiting until I finished a couple things I felt needed doing first. That, plus trying to improve my photography skills a bit.

Jon – I wish now that I had textured the tunnel interiors all the way through, instead of just near the ends!

Ray, cast resin inserts. Or, just use aluminum foil painted black.

Maybe I saw something that wasn't there, but they looked believable to me. It's not the natural rock like the outside, but believable cast concrete tunnel liner. Perhaps that's a bit too modern for your era, but it still looks good.

On some of the videos, especially the ones shot from the front of the train, you can really see the tunnel construction all the way through. In the middle it’s just concrete blocks, with a little black paint slapped on. It’s really not a big deal, I just didn’t expect the camera to show so much of it. On the other hand, at least I can use it to see how the interior is holding up over time.
