I have had situations where circuits that I have designed needed rework due to sensitivity to motors that are “dirty”.

Amen to that!!! When I do 555/556 circuits, sometimes half the components are for noise suppression. Weird and really unexpected stuff can happen too, even if the circuit flips a relay and the contacts of that relay switch a noisy circuit that is totally unrelated to the 555/556 circuit. I’ve actually burned out several chips this way. Luckily they are so cheap.
