Are you sure it’s ever warm there?
But, at least it’s always fun!

Bruce,
it must fine up sometime, just to break the monotony between rain and snow.
I ran there last in August. It was a comfortable 70F.
Rain or not that sure is a beautiful layout! Ican see why someone would brave the elements to run on it!
Bruce, yes it does get warm “up here” and even HOT some times! And yes it is worth the trip to get to Dave’s, I have about a 2 hour trip with a ferry ride both ways. The fun is when Dave chages the way bills! Then you have to refigure out car order and approach to the town or sideing. After a few years of running you do not need a way bill because you konw where and what car. I hope that a run on dave’s CCRR will stimulate others to develope their RR and enjoy operation. Oh, ya I ve been running over 10 years on the CCRR.
Nice shots! I think White Rock was my favorite spot on the CCRR. I took quite a number of pix of it when I was there a few years ago. Of course that BIG trestle sure caught my eye too.
Richard, You said - “Of course that BIG trestle sure caught my eye too.”
Trestle shots are usually quite common. Everybody wants one of their engine or train on somebody’s trestle. The fact that there are so few shots featuring Dave’s big trestle is a testament as to how good a lot of the shots on the railroad can be. InN all the years of watching the evolution of this railroad (maybe 10 or 12 years) from afar, I really don’t remember many of the trestle.
as I said somewhere else…Mark has shot the RR for a GR Mag feature, should we “request” that it goes to print? It may be the only way I ever get to “sit down” and take a look!

I LOVE the big trestle.
Jean must be a real trooper. My wife would be making an appointment for me with a psychiatrist.

The ONE nice thing about being stuck having a layout on the diningroom table is it’s ALWAYS 68-82 with no precip… just like the RR itself which is always a pretty afternoon in early June of 1959…
Steve, the CCRy has lots of flowers, I have to clean then off my equipment after each run. You need to understand that we are not all gardeners! In fact operators need to carry pruners with them during a run to keep the track and ROW clear of the green green growth that will block the train, like my K!
Paul, my comment was a criticism of GR, not Dave’s railroad. I, too, would like to see the CCRY in GR, but I doubt that it will happen.
I’ve been wrong before, just ask my lovely bride. She keeps a list!

Snicker, snicker … is she working on a 1200 page bestseller?
Yeah, I know how to keep very long lists.

Yeah, :D I know how to keep very long lists.
So, HJ, was that “snicker” or “snickersnee” you were mentioning earlier?
Chris,
That was “snicker”, no knives for me. I rely on hopefully running faster than “whoever”.
HJ I trust you can run faster than 1,100 feet per second! I am with you on knives, to up close and personel. However back to the topic! We ran last night I I was looking for Bruce as it was raining , … not again but still! But then it stope dand got nice, still wet but the sun was out! Had a nice run with the 3 T and the the K! Had a few K’s on the main at that. But, always remember we are here to HAVE FUN and run trains where ever you are and what ever the weather! HJ, I chaecked you r web site, interesting but need a few pic’s of what you have on the ground.
Paul
Paul,
I can’t run quite that fast.
